Aim of the Course
The B.Sc. (Information Technology) course aims to impart the students with fundamental and hands o knowledge of computers, information technology and communication and information technology. It will greatly useful to those student’s career in Research & Development and Higher Studies in M.Sc Information Technology/Computer Science/ Computer Applications and job opportunity.
Duration of the Course
Candidates for admission into B.Sc(Information Technology) Degree course shall have three year’s duration spread over six consecutive semesters. The maximum duration to acquire prescribed number of credits in order to complete the Programme of Study shall be twelve consecutive semesters(six years)
Eligibility of Admission
Candidates for admission into B.Sc. (Information Technology) Degree Course shall be required to have passed Higher Secondary Certificate Examination conducted by the Government of Tamil Nadu or CBSE or other equivalent examination acceptable to the Pondicherry University with Mathematics/Business Mathematics/Computer Science as one of the subjects of study.
Age Limit
Candidates must have completed 17 years as on 15th July for the Academic Year. Should be below 21 years of age as on 1st July. In the case of physically handicapped, scheduled caste and scheduled tribe candidates, the age relaxation for three years.
Lateral Entry Admission (For the Academic Year 2023-24)
Candidates who have passed Diploma in Computer Science / Computer Technology / Computer Applications / information Technology in First Class (10+3 years of study) are eligible to apply for the lateral entry to the 2nd year of the course, subject to availability of seats, but limited to 10% of the sanctioned intake. Such candidates should not have completed 22 years of age as on 1st July of the academic year.
Applicants from outside Tamil Nadu State Board must obtain the eligibility certificate from the Pondicherry University before admission. Students studying in colleges affiliated to Universities other than the Pondicherry University can seek admission to B.Sc. (Computer Science) on condition that they would adhere to the procedure laid down by the University in this regard.
